Consisting of volume, c. 1935, "South Carolina Items in The Gentleman's Magazine, London, 1731-1792," noting mention of S.C. during Colonial and Early National periods. Letter, 10 Feb. 1938, to Fitz Hugh McMaster, titled "Class of 1885 Reminiscences of South Carolina College" (later USC), re fellow classmates, grade point averages, various professors, Columbia residents, social life on campus and in town, "in those days students had no outside diversions.... We walked to everything.... I remember parties out in Waverley at Mrs. Mary Preston Darby's.... Occassionally we boys in Eagle's Nest would brew a hot lemonade getting the necessary spike from Nary who maintained a prosperous bar room one block from campus at the corner of Main and College streets." and local news including an account of the disruption of his weekly bath by earthquake tremors during Autumn, 1885. Typescript of speech, "Librarianship as a career," with annotation, "radio talk at college chapel, 9 Mar. 1932"; and clipping, 22 Feb. 1948, the State newspaper, "System of graded schools for Barnwell inaugurated by late R.M. Kennedy, " re establishment of a public school in Barnwell County ca. 1887, with assistance of Barnwell native Anna Walker, a graduate and faculty member of Greenville Woman's College.
